So here's the thing. I am not really the biggest fan of The Bachelor. I mean, sure, I've watched a few of the first seasons, but then I lost interest and stopped watching for a while. But the TV was on when the first episode of this season aired. I watched the whole thing and now I am literally completely hooked. I actually get excited for it each week. And it doesn't help that the show is two hours long. Two hours of crazy aggressive girls fighting for time with Brad the Bachelor. Two hours of girls crying and whining about each other...and I hang on their every word. Evan will see me watching it, go do something, and come back almost two hours later in complete disbelief that I am still glued in front of the TV watching this show. Right now I think Emily is my fave. I find Ashley to be annoying, Michelle is beyond awful, and the funeral director girl, I mean that's just weird.
Wanna know what goes really well with The Bachelor? Bourbon Bread Pudding, this week's Tuesdays With Dorie pick, selected by Sharon of Simply Southern! And I would know, because I ate a heck of a lot of it while watching last night. I thought this bread pudding was delicious, though it was very, very rich. I used Challah bread in mine, and followed the recipe exactly as is with no additional changes. The bourbon flavor was extremely subtle, almost undetectable. But the combination of bourbon, vanilla and almond extract gave the pudding a wonderful, well rounded flavor. The texture was soft and silky, and melted right in my mouth.
All in all, this recipe is a keeper...and now I can't wait for next week to see who Brad keeps around!
